Blue Jays to add Anthony Gose as 26th Man

According to Shi Davidi at Sportsnet, Anthony Gose will be recalled by the Blue Jays on Thursday to be the “26th man” in their doubleheader with Minnesota.

Anthony GoseGose is currently with AAA Buffalo, and will provide some much-needed depth on an already thin bench.  Toronto is currently carrying just three bench players, but with Adam Lind nursing a sore back, and Colby Rasmus a tight hamstring, the situation is even more dire than that.

Rasmus told reporters yesterday that he expected to play in Wednesday night’s contest. Hopefully the snow out gives him even more time to get back to 100%.

Lind’s situation does not sound good. He was reportedly moving around the clubhouse very cautiously, and appeared in discomfort. At this point, it would be a safe bet to see him land on the Disabled List. If that’s the case, expect Dan Johnson or Juan Francisco, both left-handed power bats, to be recalled. Francisco provides a little more versatility, as he can play both corner infield positions.

Gose’s stay is expected to last only for the doubleheader on Thursday. More moves will follow on Friday, when Jose Reyes, and possibly Casey Janssen as well, are expected to join the team in Cleveland.

We’ll have full coverage of tomorrow’s doubleheader. R.A. Dickey will start the matinee at 1:00 ET, while Dustin McGowan gets the ball in the nightcap at 7:10 ET.
