Major League Baseball will once again commemorate the anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the sport’s colour barrier back in 1947. For today’s games, as well as the Chicago Cubs-New York Yankees matinee tomorrow (a rescheduling of today’s rained-out contest), all uniform personnel on every roster will wear jersey number 42, which was retired across the MLB in 1997.
It’s an unprecedented ceremony in sports, and probably the coolest one, too. Last year, I put together a short report outlining just how much this day mean’s to today’s MLB stars.
